2009 Gala Event

CARRY's Fourth Annual "Shall We Dance?" Gala was an incredible success! Over 300 guests attended the event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on December 4th, 2009. Hosted by actress and comedian Jenifer Lewis, the event raised over $185,000 for at-risk foster youth.

CARRY recognized the following four honorees for their dedication and service to improving the lives of foster and at-risk youth: Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Sergeant Tony Campbell and the United Peace Officers Against Crime (UPAC), HealthCare Partners Chairman and CEO Robert Margolis, MD, and actor and comedian Martin Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was presented his award by actor and comedian Cedric the Entertainer. The Grammy Award-winning group The Temptations provided a memorable night of live entertainment. In addition, celebrated artist Dr. Samella Lewis contributed numerous art pieces to the live and silent auction. Adam "Aejay'e" Jackson and the Full Spectrum Band also provided live music.

The event's proceeds offer financial, medical, and dermatological support toe hundreds of youth in the foster care system. CARRY would like to thank everyone who donated and contributed to the event for its wonderful success.
